Meet Janet

I will always be a yoga student first, a teacher second. I began my practice of yoga in March 2014 after many of years of being curious about yoga but thinking I could not "do" yoga, because I wasn't flexible, athletic, or fit any description of what you may think yoga is.

After quickly falling in love with the practice of yoga, I soon realized I wanted to bring the gift of yoga to others like myself. Those who might be intimidated by what they think yoga is, who may think they “can’t do yoga” because they can’t bend their bodies into a pretzel.

I began my Yoga Teacher Training in September 2017 and completed my yoga teacher training in 2018 in the Tantric Hatha Yoga tradition, with Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts, based on the teachings of Swami Kripalu. I began teaching yoga in February 2018, after receiving the go ahead from my teacher.

I graduated from the Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts 200 hour basic YTT program in May 2018 and completed my 300 hour Professional Teaching Certification in September 2021. I am a RYT-500 with Yoga Alliance.

I am a Certified Prenatal Teacher through Pranakriya and teach Prenatal Yoga at my home studio Crofton Yoga. I enjoy helping moms-to-be tune into their bodies and bond with their babies through yoga, as they navigate the changes in their bodies that comes with pregnancy, and prepare for the birthing process.

I have a Children's Specialty in tweens-teens through Pranakriya. I am a Certified Children's Teacher with Okay Kidding Around Yoga, based on the teachings of Swami Satchidananda. I am a SAHGma (stay at home grandma) to four of my seven grand little's (the little's). I became certified to teach children because one of my little's has been diagnosed with ASD and I wanted to learn techniques to help her (she LOVES yoga).

I was inspired and encouraged to teach by my teachers; Kim Murphy and Dave Asher.

I have studied with (and currently study as often as possible) Yoganand Michael Carroll; founder of Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts. I have studied some with Kristine Weber of Subtle Yoga.

My goal and passion is to bring yoga to those who might think yoga is not for them. Located in Dundalk, MD (A suburb of Baltimore County), Yoga With Janet offers regular weekly classes, Private 1-1 sessions, and small private group classes (think book club, Facebook group; etc.). Classes are Live-Stream via Zoom along with some in person options (when it is safe to do so with the Covid Situation). You can join our classes from anywhere in the country.

When I am not teaching or taking classes, I also enjoy a good book, being outside connecting with the earth, and spending time with my family and husband of 41 years.
